What is early voting?
We understand your busy schedule may make it difficult to get to the polls, that’s why the Denton County Elections Department provides voters with numerous polling places throughout the county. Polling places include libraries, schools, city halls and recreation centers. Keep in mind that polling locations may vary from election to election. Times and locations will be posted on our website before each election.
What do I need to vote?

In order to vote in all Texas Elections, voters are required to present an approved form of photo identification (current or expired no more than 4 years) or fill out a Reasonable Impediment Declaration accompanied by one form of identification listed below:

  • Valid voter registration certificate
  • Certified birth certificate (must be an original)
  • Copy of or original current utility bill
  • Copy of or original bank statement
  • Copy of or original government check
  • Copy of or original paycheck
  • Copy of or original government document with your name and an address (original required if it contains a photograph)

Examples of acceptable forms of ID are listed below. Identification must be current or have expired no more than 4 years before being presented for voter qualification at the polling place; except for the United States citizenship certificate.

  • Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
  • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
  • Texas personal identification card issued by DPS
  • Texas concealed handgun license issued by DPS
  • United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph
  • United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph
  • United States passport
What is curbside voting?
This service is available to any voter who has difficulty walking or standing for long periods. If you have an assistant with you, when you arrive at the location, have them notify the election official at that time. The election official will then bring your ballot to your car outside the polling location. If you do not have an assistant, please call (940) 349-3200 ahead to notify the early voting clerk that you want to vote curb side.
